Originally founded on Nov 3, 1911 as the Chevrolet Motor Company by race-car driver Louis Chevrolet and GM founder, William Durant. Chevrolet hit the streets of Detroit with a luxurious, high performance car known as the “Classic Six” named after the six-cylinder under its hood. It was also known simply as the Chevrolet since there were no other cars manufactured by the company at the time. The car was well constructed, well equipped and very fast but, it was too pricey to compete with the popular Ford Model T. Years later, Durant would introduce the now iconic bow tie logo and release a “value priced” Chevrolet to compete directly with the Model T, the Chevy Series 490. Chevrolet merged with General Motors and eventually released trucks based on the 490s chassis.

Chevrolet Corvette

Throughout the 50s and 60s, Chevrolet dominated the car market with their innovation. From the introduction of the fiberglass body Corvette, the first affordable automatic transmission, the legendary small block V8, the iconic Bel-Air to their four-wheel drive trucks.

Today, Chevrolet is still known for their innovation with a lineup of vehicles that offer all levels of price and performance. Whether you are looking for a workhorse pickup truck, an affordable eco-friendly car or a full-on street legal race car, Chevy has you covered.
